We are a grassroots network of residents, employers, workforce members and affordable housing advocates concerned about our community’s housing crisis, its relationship to the climate emergency and other critical issues facing our community.
We started this all-volunteer group because we know Salt Springers care deeply about protecting our natural environment, but many do not know the impacts the housing crisis is having not only on fellow members of our community, but on the unique nature of our island’s culture and resiliency.
We believe we can house more people here with less impact on the environment than our community makes now, and we’re willing to put in the time to help make that happen.
We work closely with many other community groups including the Salt Spring Housing Council, the Community Alliance, Transition Salt Spring, Island Women Against Violence Society (IWAV), Salt Spring Community Services, and a number of local business owners, farmers, and community leaders.
Please join us by signing the petition or being in touch if you want to do more.
